Carry-in limit (guide)
Carry-in limit (per person): no set number of days. Check before you buy.
The conditions for bringing in this medicine must be checked case by case. Even a small amount may not be allowed in, even with a doctor's certificate.
This is for checking the quantity. It does not guarantee that you can bring it in.
What to have ready
- Doctor's certificate: You can add a certificate (¥3,000) in English and your language, showing your name, the medicine, and the quantity, on the same screen as your medicine.
- Original box: Keep the original box with the clinic's label.
- Carry-on prep: Pack it in your carry-on bag, and declare it if you're unsure.
What the rules say
Importing peptide hormones requires a permit. The rules say travelers may bring in a reasonable amount needed for their own treatment, based on a prescription from a medical institution. The rules do not say whether a prescription from Japan is accepted.
There have been cases where Chinese customs treated seized tirzepatide injections as peptide hormone products. Before you buy, check the import requirements for the product you plan to take home.
Our advice

Check with customs

If you live in Japan
This page is about bringing medicine into mainland China. It does not affect using it while you live in Japan.
