Carry-in limit (guide)
Carry-in limit (guide): up to 6 months' supply per person
Injectable medicines require a prescription or a certificate. Even within 6 months, you can't bring more than the prescribed amount stated in your documents.
This is for checking the quantity. It does not guarantee that you can bring it in.
What to have ready
- Doctor's certificate: You can add a certificate (¥3,000) in English and your language, showing your name, the medicine, and the quantity, on the same screen as your medicine.
- Original box: Keep the original box with the clinic's label.
- Carry-on prep: Pack it in your carry-on bag, and declare it if you're unsure.
Official guidance
- Declaring at customs: If you are within the limit, the customs guidance page does not say you need to declare. If you are over the limit, you need an import permit from Taiwan FDA and must declare.
- For Mounjaro: You use 1 pen a week, so 6 months' supply is about 26 pens.
Recent reports
December 2025: In one case, a flight crew member returning from Tokyo did not declare 12 boxes of Mounjaro, and the boxes were held at the airport (Economic Daily News).
June 2026: Taiwan FDA has announced that it is considering making declaration mandatory for GLP-1 medicines (Central News Agency).
